Mist Maker Replacement Guide

The Mist Maker is a crucial consumable part in all water vapor fireplaces. Its lifespan is approximately 2500 to 3000 hours, or a maximum of two years. If part of the insert stops producing mist, it is likely that the Mist Maker needs to be replaced.

Unlike most devices on the market, replacing the Mist Makers in AFIRE fireplaces is very easy and does not require removing the unit from its built-in installation. Simply remove the top plate to access the Mist Maker tank. This is a significant advantage and a huge time saver, especially for units that are 1 meter or more, which are heavy and difficult to move.

• Check: For devices that are 1 meter or more (40 inches+), swap the defective Mist Maker with one that is still working to verify the issue.
• Prevention: Keep spare Mist Makers on hand, especially for commercial spaces, to avoid operational downtime.
• Number of Mist Makers in a device: In a water vapor insert, there is 1 Mist Maker for every 50 cm.

Please note, AFIRE Mist Makers are specific, with an adapted voltage. Using a non-compliant Mist Maker can cause device failure and void the manufacturer’s warranty.

Maintaining a water vapor insert or steam fireplace is quick and simple. By following a few basic steps, you can ensure your device functions properly over the long term. Our instructional video guides you through the entire process for hassle-free maintenance.

Required Materials:

• 🧽 Soft cloth
• 🛠️ Manual pump (or electric pump)
• 🪣 Bucket
• 💧 Plastic filling hose (the one supplied with the device)
• 🍋 White vinegar: 1.5 liters for a 50 cm section of the tank (0.4 gal for 20 inches)
• ⚡ Turn off and unplug the device.

Steps to Follow

(For each Mist Maker tank)

1. Preparation and Draining 🛑

• Remove the top plate.
• Unscrew the lid of the Mist Maker tank.
• Use a manual pump (or electric pump) to empty the water from the tank.
• Remove the Mist Maker from the tank.

2. Cleaning 🧼

• Clean the surface of the Mist Maker and any areas where dirt can accumulate using a soft cloth.
• Add 1.5 liters (0,4 gal) of pure white vinegar to each Mist Maker tank (each tank measures about 50 cm or 20 inches).
• Screw the lid of the tank back on and replace the top plate.

3. Rest Time 🕒

• Let it sit for 8 hours (overnight).

4. Rinsing 💦

• Remove the top plate again.
• Unscrew the lid of the Mist Maker tank.
• Use a pump to drain the white vinegar from the tank.
• Fill and drain each Mist Maker tank with 1.5 liters (0,4 gal) of clean water to remove any remaining vinegar residue.

5. Reassembly ⚙️

• Place the Mist Maker back in the tank and plug it in.
• Screw the lid back on and replace the top plate.
• ⚡ Plug the device back in.

6. Filling and Final Steps 🚰

• Remove the cap from the filling port and connect the filling hose.
• Press the B1 button for 5 seconds to fill the device with water. The pump will stop automatically once the tank is full.
• Remove the filling hose, replace the cap on the filling port, and turn on the device.
